Year 2 meet the parents information
This half term the children in class 2 are becoming dragonologists as a mysterious purple egg was discovered in a nest made of logs in Forest School. The purple egg has now hatched and we believe the baby dragon has flown away. Class 2 have contacted the police who have reassured us that we cannot be harmed by the dragon.
As dragonologists we are now going to investigate dragons so that we can let 'The National Museum of Strange Objects (NMSO)', in London, know of our findings.
Due to changes in the National Curriculum for Writing we have decided to adopt a cursive script for handwriting for all children from Nursery up to Year 4. We have looked at the sheer volume of the curriculum for current Years 5 and 6 and feel they do not have the time to learn a new script, so teachers will be focussing on developing the handwriting style that those children already have mastered. There is a much heavier focus in the new curriculum on handwriting and a failure to master a clearly joined, legible handwriting script will not enable children to make progress through the curriculum fully.
We do appreciate that this is a change for our children to master but please rest assured School and Nursery staff are providing lots of opportunities for all the children to practise along with the adults too!
As well as this we will be spending a lot of time focusing on online safety and how we can be safe in the modern world.
